Approximately 10-12 mile clearly marked ride across beautiful South Down’s private and communal farmland and woodland (NO ROADWORK) with optional hunt jumps. Shorter route (6 miles) option available.

*If you wish to do the ride with friends or family, please enter the names of all the riders in your group through one booking and one payment only.
*There is a form to complete with the names of adult riders and a form to complete for children (under 12 years). Please complete both forms if appropriate, adding both completed forms to your basket, before checking out.
*You will then all be allocated a time slot together.
*At the end of each form before pressing ‘Add to Basket’, please update the number of riders named on this form in the small box.
The following advice is dependent on current overarching Government guidance and the event is subject to variation or cancellation if the situation changes.
We are committed to stopping the spread of Covid-19 and therefore this ride will be run in a socially responsible manner, whilst following the Government guidance. These measures are in place to ensure the safety of participants and the local community.
It is the expectation that all participants will comply to the below terms and instructions. The organisers will assert the necessary authority to ensure that all those in attendance respect and adhere to the regulations and guidelines.
Start times will be between 9am and 1pm and will be allocated per household or per booking (with a maximum of 6 horses), to ensure social distancing.
Travel and Parking – Participants should travel to the event in a vehicle only with members of their own household. Participants are asked not to arrive too early and will be required to leave promptly after completion.
Start of the Ride – There will be no Secretary’s tent on site. Riders are asked to arrive at the Start check point (it will be clearly marked), ready to start the ride promptly at your allocated time.
On the Ride – The route will be clearly marked. Please carry a mobile phone on the ride and take note of this emergency number in case of any issues.
Completion of the ride – Please check in with the steward so we know you are back safely. If allowed, rosettes will be given at the end of the ride.
Social distancing – Everyone must show continued compliance with social distancing guidelines of 2m apart if possible, or 1m+ if not, at all times.
Symptoms – If you are showing any signs of Covid-19 symptom, you should be self-isolating and must not attend this event. People should continue to follow strict self-isolation for 7 days should they show any symptoms of Covid-19, or 14 days should any member of their household show signs of Covid-19.
Shielding / Vulnerable people – Whilst we are pleased to be able to hold this event within the boundaries of government guidance and social distancing, it is still not suitable for those that are considered vulnerable or are shielding from Covid-19 to attend.
Supporters – Those people who are not participating or are not directly involved with a participant (eg. Groom, Driver, Owner, Parent) are not be allowed to attend.
Children are very welcome on the ride, but parents (or a responsible adult) are responsible for supervising them at all times and in line with social distancing guidelines. The virus can be spread by touching contaminated surfaces; therefore, we kindly ask you to pay special attention to children’s hand hygiene.
Dogs must be kept on leads and are not permitted on the ride.
Hard Hats to current British Safety standards must be worn.
Cancellation / Refunds – Entry fees are not refundable unless supported by a Doctor’s and/or Vet certificate.
By attending the Downland Ride, all attendees acknowledge and agree that although the organisers have taken every precaution and followed Government Guidance, it is impossible to eliminate all risk and there remains the potential for unintended transmission of COVID-19. All those attending must play their part in minimising the risk to themselves and others by complying with the Government Guidelines as well as any on site instructions and signage. The organisers have the right to refuse entry or request departure from the premises should there be any breach of the Covid-19 protocols put in place.
All competitors and owners of the horses take part at their own risk. Neither the organisers nor landowners accept any liability for any accident, loss, damage, injury, death, or illness to horses, riders, spectators, cars, vehicles or their contents and accessories or any other person or property whatsoever whether caused by their negligence, breach of contract or in any way whatsoever.
