Class 1  Novice Pairs 70-80cm approx. Open to all competitors. Optimum time.

Class 2  Junior Novice 70-80cm approx. Open to competitors who are 16 years old and under. Optimum time.

Class 3  Senior Novice 70-80cm approx. Open to all competitors. Fastest time.

Class 4  Open Pairs 80cm. Optimum time.

Class 5  Open Individual 90cm. Open to competitors. Optimum time.

Class 6   90 Open 90cm. Fastest time. Open to any competitor.

Class 7  100 Open 100cm BE 100 course. Fastest time. Open to any competitor.

 

Terms and Conditions of Entry – please read carefully

We are committed to stopping the spread of Covid-19 and therefore this Hunter Trials will be run in a socially responsible manner, whilst following the Government guidance.  These measures are in place to ensure the safety of participants and the local community.

It is the expectation that all participants will comply to the below terms and instructions. The organisers will assert the necessary authority to ensure that all those in attendance respect and adhere to the regulations and guidelines.

The following advice is dependent on current overarching Government guidance and the event is subject to variation or cancellation if the situation changes.

Travel and Parking – Participants should travel to the event in a vehicle only with members of their own household. Participants are asked not to arrive too early and will be required to leave promptly after completion. Parking should be a minimum of 3 metres apart. No horses are to be left tied to the outside of a lorry / trailer unattended.

No secretaries There will be no Secretary’s tent on site. RIDERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO PRINT THEIR OWN BIB NUMBERS ON AN A4 PIECE OF PAPER AND BRING THEM TO THE EVENT WITH THEIR OWN BIB.

Course Walking will be available from Friday 10th July at 2pm,  and on Saturday and Sunday too, please always ensure social distancing and do not touch the fences.

Warm Up area for each phase will be clearly marked with a steward managing this.  You will not be able to enter if it creates overcrowding.

Start times will be between 9am and 6pm. Start times will be posted on this website near the event.

YOU ARE EXPECTED TO RIDE ON YOUR ALLOCATED TIMES. IF YOU DO NOT DO SO, YOU RISK BEING UNABLE TO COMPETE.

We ask that competitors maintain social distancing when riding and, once you have finished competing, you leave the site as promptly as possible.

Optimum and Fastest Time

  • The judge’s decision is final. The optimum time will be set according to the ground conditions on the day.  If conditions dictate, a timed section will be used.  This will be clearly advertised at the start box on the day.
  • The winner of classes 1,2,4, and 5 will be the competitor or pair who complete a clear round and is the nearest to the optimum time.
  • The winner of classes 3 and 6 will be the competitor who completes a clear round in the fastest time.
  • Competitors will not be allowed to wear stop watches. The starting time of a pair is taken as the first rider leaves the start. The finishing time of a pair is the time at which the last rider passes through the finish.

Results will be published to this website after the event in a timely manner and prizes will be sent by post.

Venue Facilities – toilet facilities will be provided and regularly cleaned. We ask that you please take all rubbish and droppings home with you.

Refreshments – Catering will be provided in line with current government guidance.

Social distancing – The government recommends that you keep two metres away from people as a precaution or one metre when you can mitigate the risk by taking other precautions in this list. Find more guidance here.

Symptoms – If you are showing any signs of Covid-19 symptom, you should be self-isolating and must not attend this event. People should continue to follow strict self-isolation for 7 days should they show any symptoms of Covid-19, or 14 days should any member of their household show signs of Covid-19.

Shielding / Vulnerable people – Whilst we are pleased to be able to hold this event within the boundaries of government guidance and social distancing, it is still not suitable for those that are considered vulnerable or are shielding from Covid-19 to attend.

Lockdown – Riders or horses living within restricted areas that are on ‘lockdown’ may not compete.

Supporters – Those people who are not participating or are not directly involved with a participant (eg. Groom, Driver, Owner, Parent) are not be allowed to attend. Attendees are restricted to:

  • One rider and one support per horse.
  • One owner per horse / Two owners per horse if from the same household.

Children are very welcome to compete, but parents (or a responsible adult) are responsible for supervising them at all times and in line with social distancing guidelines. The virus can be spread by touching contaminated surfaces; therefore, we kindly ask you to pay special attention to children’s hand hygiene.

Dogs must be kept on leads and are not permitted on the ride.

Hard Hats must always be worn when mounted.  Hats must conform to current British safety standards with the safety harness correctly fastened.

Back protectors to be worn at the discretion of the competitor, their parents or guardian.

Cancellation / Refunds – Entry fees are not refundable unless supported by a Doctor’s and/or Vet certificate.

By attending the Brightling Park Hunter Trials, all attendees acknowledge and agree that although the organisers have taken every precaution and followed Government Guidance, it is impossible to eliminate all risk and there remains the potential for unintended transmission of COVID-19. All those attending must play their part in minimising the risk to themselves and others by complying with the Government Guidelines as well as any on site instructions and signage. The organisers have the right to refuse entry or request departure from the premises should there be any breach of the Covid-19 protocols put in place.

All competitors and owners of the horses take part at their own risk. Neither the organisers nor landowners accept any liability for any accident, loss, damage, injury, death, or illness to horses, riders, spectators, cars, vehicles or their contents and accessories or any other person or property whatsoever whether caused by their negligence, breach of contract or in any way whatsoever.
